A proper journal entry must be dated, written in a complete sentence, and have proper capitalization and punctuation.

Example of an incorrect journal entry answering the question:  'What are your goals for this year?'
Incorrect:   "To get good grades."    Why?  Not a complete sentence
"my goal is to get good grades."    Why?  No capitalization.
"My goal is to get good grades"    Why?  No period.
